At the 132kV Substation, SB Power Contractors provided comprehensive high-voltage substation design services encompassing primary, secondary, SCADA/Telecom, and civil design. This project aimed to enhance the substation’s capacity and operational efficiency to support growing energy demands and improve grid reliability.

Challenge
The primary challenge at the 132kV Substation was to upgrade the existing infrastructure to support increased energy demands without compromising grid reliability. This involved reinforcing two 132kV transformers, increasing their capacity from 60MVA to 90MVA, while ensuring seamless integration with the existing high-voltage systems. Additionally, the project required meticulous coordination of primary, secondary, SCADA/Telecom, and civil design elements to minimize operational disruptions during the upgrade process. Overcoming these technical complexities was critical to maintaining the substation’s performance and ensuring long-term operational efficiency.
Deliverables
• Primary Design: Upgraded high-voltage equipment layouts, including transformer reinforcement from 60MVA to 90MVA.
• Secondary Design: Detailed protection and control schematics for improved system reliability.
• SCADA/Telecom Integration: Enhanced communication systems for real-time monitoring and control.
• Civil Design: Structural modifications to support upgraded equipment and ensure long-term durability.
• Auxiliary Systems: Design of associated high-voltage and auxiliary systems to support the increased capacity.
• Compliance Assurance: Ensured all designs met regulatory and grid code standards for operational efficiency and safety.
